  1. One of the lessons they learend was to give God 10% of all the things you make or get. They were taught this by Preacher. When Elija was fishing and ened up with 4 of the 10 that he cauht because the preacher was going to give them to God(But personliy I think he ate them.)
The seond time they were taught a lesson was with there scool teacher. Cooter had not greeted him proply so he got slaped in the face. Then Elija got in trouble for sasing the teacher.
The next time was with the wood cutter. Elija was about to say a rude word when. He back-hand slaps he and gives him a lecture on how you should never say that word again. How he bust-up his own son if he sayed that word

  2. The first lesson was taught to Elijah by Preacher on page 51. The lesson was how to divide fish "evenly". He said that you should divide them by their age, but I think he was just trying to get more fish for himself.

The next lesson was also taught by Preacher on page 4. He told Elijah and Cooter about hoop snakes, and how they chase you and bite you. Then, 7 and a half days later, you'll have swollen up so much that you burst open.

The last lesson, like Tabatha said, is what Mr. Leroy taught Elijah on page 96. He taught Elijah never to say a bad word by back handing him across the cheek, cutting him off. He then apologized, but confessed that he would have done the same, maybe worse, to his own son.

  3. The first lesson was taught to 'Lijah and Cooter on pages 4 and 5. The lesson was taught by none other than the Preacher. The lesson was about a Hoop Snake and what the effects would be if you were bitten.

Next, was when Eli and Cooter were taught to ALWAYS have high manners and respect whenever they talked to Mr. travis. If they didn't do this they could have all ended up like Cooter did, with his ear almost twisted off.

Lastly, my favorite lesson was when Elijah and Cooter were taught to not play pranks. Eli was taught when his mom got him back on page 19. He had put a toady-frog in his mom's sweater and she put a snake in the cookie jar.

One of the lessons Elijah learned was when Elijah made his mother reach in and grab a toady-frog. But, Elijah should have not have done that because his momma got right back at him by making him grab a snake. The lesson he learned is that you should always think about what you are doing before you do it and don't be so fra-gile.
Another lesson is when Cooter was all excited about something Cooter did not understand in the school. And because Cooter did not have manners and did not understand, they both got punished. The bottom line is that since Elijah is smarter in his mind, he should not trust Cooter with some things that Cooter thinks he knows, but does not.

  5. Lesson 1: act like a gentleman would around Mr. Travis. Lesson 2: Always watch your language around Mr. Leroy. Lesson 3: Familiarity Breeding Contempt does NOT mean family breeding contest.
